The usual genimage is to create an image that is exactly the level of the OS on the Management Node. There is documentation for generating images off the MN but it requires setup.
For updating the image checkout the following documentation. http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_iDataPlex_Advanced_Setup#Update_your_diskless_image Lissa K. I know the major version of the OS has to be the same for generating install images but does the minor version. In other words can I successfully generate a CentOS 5.6 stateless image on a CentOS 5.3 master? (And I guess I should ask if I am wrong about the major version as well). 2. How would one go about updating a stateless image’s packages like you would using yum on a standard install? Mark L.
