Hello,

I'm running xCAT 2.7.

Setting the noderes.netboot=xnba now I'm able to install correctly the
nodes. They reboot correctly.
Instead with netboot=pxe the node only boot if in the start options of
x3650 BIOS I've the hd0 before the pxe!!
If the pxe is setting before hd0 after the pxe request I get the error
reported in my previous mail.

I've got several post scripts that depend on the setting of NODESETSTATE -
so when I do a netboot I expect it to be set to "netboot" and when
installing a statefull system I expect it to be set to "install".

However, after upgrading to 2.7 this now *always* seems to be set to
"boot" with the consequence that some scripts run when I don't expect them
to and vice versa. (This is true whether I do an update from 2.6.8->2.7 or
a fresh 2.7 install).

Any ideas as to why this should be and/or how to track down the cause?

FWIW my xCAT server runs CentOS 5.5 (my main server has been running this
since at least xCAT 2.4 and no updates have broken it until now;
fortunately I do have a separate test system...)

Hello,
I've a problem installing RedHat 6.2 on xSeries x3650 M3 using xCAT 2.7

Using the default kickstart template the installation proceed correctly
and seems to terminate
correctly. At the reboot the system cannot boot up.
The following error appears:

It loops for some time on the pxe request. Correctly the "Booting from
local disk" is set but the
O.S. doesn't boot and this error message appears:

It appears your computer has less than 277K of low ("DOS")
RAM. Syslinux needs at least this amount to boot. If you get
this message in error, hold down the Ctrl key while
booting, and I will take your word for it.

No problem installing the same system from local DVD.

Starting on rescue on that system I've found this problem:

The file /etc/grub.conf is linked to /boot/grub/grub.conf instead on the
running system installed via DVD
is linked to /boot/efi/EFI/redhat/grub.conf.

Other than the grub.conf file is not correctly...
Copying the grub.conf file from running system and link it on the correct
path solve the problem.

I think this a UEFI related problem...

Do you have any suggestion?? Someone has already experienced this issue??

Thanks a lot for your help.
Roberto

Could you tell us your level of xCAT. Only in the recent releases have
we
starting testing RHEL 6.2 and we are still in test.

If you 'rsetboot <node> hd', does the next boot succeed by chance?

If that works, then can you do asu show Bootorder on the node as well as
parted -l?

If boot order and disk layout look as expected, then see if
noderes.netboot=xnba on the node changes the behavior...
