The problem is the credentials from the SN to the MN are not being accepted. The xcatd daemon checks those and it is why you are denied. The peername missing below and that is the cause of the error. It should be coming back as root. (peername=root). It is not coming back at all. When you are in XCATBYPASS mode this check is not made, we don't go through the daemon. I can only guess it has something to do with your sudo environment. Can you run as root on the service node and try it and not use sudo?
