HI, I am not sure if I understand the problem, are you trying to modify the dhcpd.conf to redirect the dhcp log info to some files other than /var/log/messages? After the xCAT makedhcp -n command is run, you can modify the dhcpd.conf file to add the log-facility commands, and then restart dhcpd, the xCAT makedhcp command will not overwrite the dhcpd.conf unless you specified -n flag to generate a new dhcpd.conf, I think the makedhcp -n should not be used frequently after the dhcpd.conf is created, unless really necessary.

Mailing list <xcat-user@lists. sourceforge.net> I want to separate the log of dhcpd from /etc/log/messages to a different file. All say that this can be achieved editing the /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file, but with xCAT, this files is generated. How can I separate dhcpd log with xCAT? The problem is that xcat generates dhcpd.conf file, so I cannot add the log-facility or other config commands to the dhcpd.conf file.
