Hello,
We are currently testing out a xcat-statelite node image for our cluster,
and are happy with it, but we are running into the problem that our NFS
server can't handle the amount of traffic we are sending it. The type of
jobs we run create a lot of I/O reading libraries.
We are starting to consider the idea of just putting hard drives in the
nodes, and I am a bit confused about the functionality that xCAT provides
for "diskful" installs. Is it basically limited to pxe/kickstart
installations of nodes? Is there no way to deploy a "master" image to each
node? Essentially what I am imaging is being able to manage the node image
on the xCAT management server, the way it is done with statelite installs,
but instead of using NFS/RAM it would just install it to the local drive?
Thanks,
Eric
