DHCP option 82 can be enabled in some switches to provide connection
information (switch, port number) along with the MAC address in the dhcp packet
forwarded to the ip helper address.

Can this be used in place of a dynamic address range for node discovery?

xCAT's current scheme is probably more portable (doesn't require switch
support), and has more features (addition information is available to make
build decision, hardware type, model, etc.), but Option 82 have some advantages
in that it doesn't need to be able to boot an xCAT kernel for discovery, so it
could work for IPMI ports, for example.

Not a big deal for us, as we can program the ipmi port via the host OS, just
curious.

Thanks,

Goran
