So what is the value for numreqs you are using? I found one comment in ddns.pm, it's - # limit to 300 updates in a payload, something broke at 644 on a certain sample, choosing 300 for now.
I remember that our system test has verified the case that there are more than 2k hosts in /etc/hosts, makedns -n can work though it takes some time to complete, but not sure if they were using SLES.. Besides, what's in /var/lib/named(ls -l /var/lib/named)? Thx. Jing. We have approx > 2000 hosts in /etc/hosts, (The hostnames have - in the name, could this be a cause?) I have now recently upgraded from 2.7.3 to 2.7.6, with no avail.
