Thanks Chuck,

I hadn't seen that part of the manual and will have a look and do some tests.

Kind regards
Peter

The "Enabling zVM for Openstack..." manual has a section to back up xCAT tables.

For the repository you can go to Provision->Files in the gui and download
individual files to your workstation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Backing Up and Restoring xCAT Table Information
To back up your xCAT table information to your workstation, you'll need to
create a tar file that will
contain this information, using the following steps:
1. Bring up the xCAT GUI, authenticate into xCAT, as admin and create a target
directory for the table
tar file. You can create a subdirectory under /install by going to
Configure/Files, then clicking the
"New Folder" button. Here is an example of a directory called test:

________________________________

Hi everyone,

I'm working with XCAT under z/VM and have a question about the repository.

Is there an easy way to rebuild it on a running system?

I ask as I found it necessary to do that, to recover from some very odd errors
in the provisioning function, that had to do with missing scripts and package
lists. These errors were fixed after I removed the minidisk housing the
repository from XCAT's directory entry and the disk extent in which the
minidisk resided, and then restarted XCAT, after which it then rebuilt the
directory. I can repeat that process if required but was wondering if there
was a better/quicker/simpler way.

Kind regards
Peter
