I think your workaround is reasonable. The root cause of this issue might be that there's a little gap between the finished of network start script with the nics which are really enabled.

Since the problem does not occur all the time and since it only occurs on Centos 7 based systems, we suspect it may be systemd related. Wed May 27 08:04:52 CEST 2015 Running postscript: otherpkgs NFSSERVER=192.168.1.254 OTHERPKGDIR=192.168.1.254/install/post/otherpkgs/centos7.0/x86_64 Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Cleaning repos: local-centos7.0-x86_64-x86_64 xcat-otherpkgs0 Cleaning up everything yum -y upgrade Loaded plugins: fastestmirror http://192.168.1.254/install/centos7.0/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] curl#7 - "Failed to connect to 192.168.1.254: Network is unreachable" I created a workaround for the problem by adding a small wait in the xcatpostinit1 script. However, I am not quite sure why this is necessary, as the LSB headers for xcatpostinit1 have $network in Required-Start. Any advice?
