Yeah, though it will deviate from IPMI for select things (e.g. wvid uses
http(s) to get the video data from a Flex node).

However for that vendor, it's strictly the IPMI standard subset.

Thank you Jarrod, that helps a lot. So by "going direct" I take that to mean
IPMI using the blades' BMC interface?

The BladeCenter is the only one that is supported that requires that. The
IBM/Lenovo Flex can go either way, but it's much better to go direct. For Flex
the CMM is supported for node discovery if preferred. For other vendors, would
be up to the vendor to add proprietary chassis based capabilities like that, so
only Lenovo/IBM adds that for now.

Node discovery is not necessary, it's a small enough setup where I can manually
add nodes. By "work with", I mean can it perform the basic functions of node
provisioning and manipulation, i.e. rpower, nodeset install, boot, etc.

I currently have an xCAT setup with IBM hardware, and wanted to add some Dell.

Define "work with".

Do you want to do node discovery?

Does anyone know if xCAT will work with Dell PowerEdge M1000e blade chassis? I
see references to various Dell servers but none relating to blades.
