Hello everybody,

My question is about VMware and vCenter integration.

I've seen this wiki page
https://sourceforge.net/p/xcat/wiki/XCAT_Virtualization_with_VMWare/ but it is
still unclear for me what is achievable or not. The document is mostly about
managing virtual machines directly on one ESXi host.

The "Using vCenter to perform the vm management" part suggests that I could run
everything through vCenter instead of addressing directly an ESXi host. Am I
correct ?

I've already defined some virtual stateless machines directly with vSphere and
manually declare them using their mac addresses. It's working, I can boot on a
netboot osimage but I don't have access to rpower for example. Is there a way to
"attach" an existing virtual machine to an xcat node and benefits from it
(rpower etc...) or should I create the virtual machines from scratch with xcat ?

Thank you for your help.

Jean-Baptiste
