Hi Kevin
I think otherinterfaces can use complete hostname without suffix or prefix.
We have several methods to configuring alias in /etc/hosts.
There are examples here, I hope it can help you: https://xcat-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/QA/makehosts.html#q-how-to-configure-aliases
Here are other hostname related examples: https://xcat-docs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/QA/index.html
Best Regards

Subject: [xcat-user] How to add a host name to /etc/hosts ?
Date: Tue, Nov 20, 2018 6:52 AM
I found the hostname attribute in the node object to add an alias in /etc/hosts .My problem is that I don't see a way to control *which* IP address is being added. Is there a way to use the IP of another interface together with the hostname attribute?Unfortunately, the otherinterfaces attribute does not work for me because it only allows me to set the suffix or prefix, but not the complete hostname.Thanks!_______________________________________________________________________
