I saw something similar on R740s not long ago (using the 10Gbe LOM1 port). The machines would begin PXE boot, but would hang at a certain % of the kernel loading, and never complete boot.
If I changed the mac in xCAT to the 1Gbe LOM3 nic, the issue didn't exist. After updating all firmware on the machines (which included a network DUP pertinent to that daughter board), the issue was resolved. I don't know if it's your exact issue, but it sounds like it may be something to at least rule out.
