Hello,

We are using xcat 2.13 to install RH 7.9 on a new Dell AMD Poweredge machine.

First, I should mention that we have been able to do a diskless install on the
node. That was very smooth, and the node was up and able to run the postscripts
after a couple of minutes. That was just a sanity test to see if we could bring
up the IB, the GPFS, etc on the node.

We would prefer to do a diskfull installation on this node since it is a login
node. Attempting to do a diskfull installation has been painful. We don't even
get to the point where the disk partitions are created -- the process stalled
as the services are being started in the installation environment. For the
moment we have switched to Dell's LIfecycle controller and that may be our best
way forward.

I do wonder, however, if anyone has managed to use xcat to complete a diskfull
installation one of these Poweredge machines. If we can do all the installation
work in xcat then that would be best. Please let us know if you have any
experience or advice to share with us in this respect.

Best regards,
David
