I will take a deep look later, but just to answer the first question – Honestly, I feel I am missing something here because ipmitool-xcat ask for libreadline.so.7 and rhel9 simply has newer version (I could not find the readline-devel-7.x for el9). This is why I thought the package was built on el8 and I tried to rebuild it on rh9.

More specifically, I am currently facing an issue with building ipmitool-xcat, which seems to be built on rhel8, even the version on the rh9 xcat-dep. It looks for older version of libreadline which is not available for rhel9. Trying to build the package on rhel9 (after adding two lines to pass the initial checker) fail with some error messages that are not very clear (to me). I need to do some more debugging here, but I thought there is a good chance someone already faced and solved it. Of course there is a good chance I am missing something basic here. THX in advance!
