The segfault is easily corrected by removing the stupid line render.c:593
which attempts to flush a file descriptor instead of a stream. However,
once xcircuit gets past this point, it just reveals all the quirky
behavior, in which ghostscript gets completely lost with respect to the
current zoom and position state of xcircuit. There are problems with
pipe input/output buffering that need to be fixed. I have worked out
all of the interprocess communication problems with ghostscript, in a
postscript/PDF previewer I have been occasionally developing (I got
annoyed with acroread). I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to
splice the code back into xcircuit.

Please send me any misbehaving examples you might have.
