Hello,

For reasons that are a little complex, I need to send email using a remote
SMTP server. It seems some academic sites in the UK do not allow "free"
ISPs to send emails to them, but it's OK if they are non-UK ISPs!

Anyway, I have access to such an SMTP server. It needs POP3
authentication first. However, if I tick the box under Transfer/Network,
then SMTP, for SMTP after POP3, the SMTP dialogue box does not appear,
whether or not that option is also ticked.

Any reason or ideas?

While I'm about it, I've just noticed. In one account (set up especially
for this SMTP system) on this linux box, some of the buttons (e.g. Delete)
have a downarrow (\/) symbol I've not seen before. I suppose I should
RFM, but what does it mean? And, maybe related to this, why does this
version ignore the "Move mail to received folder if read"?

Regards,

David Pilgram.
