I’m trying to do some delicate and tricky text replacements with in section of code in the middle of a big file and soon as I start to type it jumps me from where I want to be! Yeah, sometimes it would really be nice to have an old style standard Find dialog that doesn't think it knows what you want. All I can suggest is to keep another app open, like TextEdit, TextWrangler, etc, switch to that app when you want to enter a search term, then switch back to Xcode and hit command-g.
