Hi Scott, what is the state of the google doc approach really?
To be honest I did not spend much time on it, because I was not able to easily get access to "manual work" with the help of google docs. I am not at all tex experienced, but found the present manual environment (including git) more adapted to straight forward load and change content to the manual.
