I noticed it happening to me too a few times. I figured that the
problem arises from people clicking on "Reply to All" when you posted
a message and then sending you a private mail and a public mail via
the mailinglist. That way you will get the same message twice over two
different ways. We can't really prevent that from happening as far as
I know. The only thing we could do about it is to remind people to
only send their replies to the mailinglist and not the oringal authors
too.
