Hi Robert
I am not a XCSoar developer, but vaguely remember that it was discussed
(mainly on long finish line context, where glidepath went very
pessimistic, if approaching on say 1/4 point of the finish line). But I
guess, no one considered it important enough problem to correct.
I think it shouldn't be too difficult a problem to implement properly.
Another question is what is the status of development activity in these
days...

Hi Hannu
Has this problem been raised with the developers?

Hi Robert
It is how XCSoar calculates the start (and finish) line
intersection. It looks for the closest point from the ends or the
center point. I have been bitten with the same problem in the same
context ie GP start glide mode.

Hi
I'm currently flying in the Queensland State comps that is
running in the grand Prix format. I've explored the info boxes
and I can't find one that calculates the start countdown correctly.
What is needed is a calculation based on the perpendicular
distance to the start line, not the distance to the centre of the
start line.
Am I missing something already there or is this something that
needs to be added, if possible?
