In my opinion, as not everyone (devels) should have access to codehaus dist site (dunno for sure...), who would release those snapshots? In what rate basis? We've seen in jelly where the SNAPSHOT available was even older that 1.0 final. Never used maven for artifacts upload, but we could upload SNAPSHOTS into sourceforge (site), and releases into codehaus. Just like "commons" folks - If maven helped in that effort, I believe we could deploy SNAPSHOTS builds easily.
