As far as I know, it's b)

In fact, it's not SPAM that's been hitting the list recently, though,
it's a virus (W32/[EMAIL PROTECTED] - see
http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=100429) that not only scans
the infected machine for addresses to send itself to, but also picks
from those addresses it finds to fake the From address as well. A
number of people who read the xdoclet lists appear to be infected (I
know it's not me as it's a Windows based virus :-)) I presume that TMDA
message is because one of the victims has also mailed a TMDA-protected
list some time in the past.

If anyone reading this uses CHINANET, SBC Internet Services, INDOSATnet,
China United Telecommunications Corporation, Emirates Telecommunication
Corporation, XO Communications, Shanghai Cable Network Co. Ltd.,
Deutsche Telekom AG, RoadRunner Southwest (Austin?), or Sprint Broadband
Direct as their ISP, you might like to check your machine to make sure
it's not infected. According to the mail headers on the copies of the
virus that have appeared on the list and in my SourceForge mailbox
recently, it's been sent from machines on all of those networks...
