The path looks like:
  POJO -> (struts-config.xml, hibernate mapping)

I would like to add in support for the Validator tags, and probably will
once I have some free time.

Cool. I think that Matt Raible has done work on getting POJO to ActionForm and validator tags working fine - and the patches may even be in JIRA?

I plan on continuing to make improvements to the extension that I wrote.
If I shouldn't call the distributed file "xdoclet-whatever", please let
me know. I don't care if the code is adopted by the XDoclet team, which,
given the apparent hostility to it, seems generally unlikely.

Easy now.... there is no hostility here. I created the <strutsvalidationxml> subtask out of a need our team had and contributed it back and have made some changes to it based on user feedback. But, I now do Tapestry development in my current project and am out of the loop with Struts at the moment. I personally won't touch open source code unless it is of direct benefit to me, my projects, or it is something that I can prove with test cases that all is well. When time permits, I am happy to look over submissions, apply patches and test things though. This is my way of being responsible and avoiding breaking things that are out of my realm of expertise.

You are free to name a distributed module whatever you like.

Perhaps you should consider going over to XDoclet2 where the plugins are more user-maintained and things are more active and current. This will give your work the longest lifetime, I'd suspect.
