Yes, xapi do have XenAPI (pretty good documented for XenServer and XCP). You can do snapshots and export them.
Right now I'm researching more interesting way to backup VMs via snapshot on storage LVM (not created by xapi) and accessing LVM within this snapshot locally on storage (kinda hack...).
