AFAIK, sun is projecting VirtualBox as a desktop virtualization solution and
xVM (xen) as a sever virtualization solution.
Your 2nd requirement seems to fit a VB use case. Unless we are talking of a
huge database, you may want to give a try with VB for your first requirement
as well.
