Hi,

I am facing an issue which i have described in the below and looking forward
your help regarding the same at the earliest.

Description:

I am trying to create virtualization using Xen-Hypervisor.
I have installed fedora 8 and installed xen kernel as per the document
guideless which are mentioned in the below.

        1. Install Virtualization Software: su -c “yum groupinstall
‘Virtualization’”
        2. ADDED STEP: su -c “yum install xen kernel-xen”
        3. Check System – Administration – Services for xend
        4. Check /boot/grub/grub.conf to ensure you have a xen boot option (my
conf file has this option)
title Fedora (2.6.21.7-3.fc8xen)
root (hd0,0)
kernel/xen.gz-2.6.21.7-3.fc8
module/vmlinuz-2.6.21.7-3.fc8xen ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhbg quiet
module/initrd-2.6.21.7-3.fc8xen.img
        5. Reboot the machine and select proper Xen kernel: I selected
Fedora(2.6.21.7-3.fc8xen)
        6. su -c “virt-manager”
        7. Open a connection for “Xen” with “local”
        8. Click on NEW Button
        9. Enter System Name
        10. Select Paravirtualized or Fully Virtualized Method
        11. Locate Installation Meda ; I used
http://mirror.stanford.edu/fedora/linux/releases/8/Fedora/i386/os
        12. Storage Space – I used Simple File
        13. Connect to Host Network
        14. Allocate Memory and CPU
        15. Load Virtual Machine
I am facing two major issues while doing the above steps:

1. After the step 4 (while re-booting choosen the xen kenrnel mode), the
ethernet interface is not coming up.
    make -c /lib/modules/2.6.21-2950.fc8xen/build
SUBDIRS=/home/meru/Desktop/tg3-3.92n modules
make : *** /lib/modules/2.6.21-2950.fc8xen/build: No such file or
directory. Stop.

I have used broadcom tg3 driver for fedora 8. But after booting with Xen Kernel
mode, ethernet was not coming up, so i was trying to install same tg3 driver
for Xen Kernel mode also. But it throws the above error.

2. While installing the OS on virtual machine, i am getting the following error
"Unable to complete install: 'The CDROM device hdc is already used'". Find
the attached error details file for this corressponding error message.

I am trying this virtualization concept in the laptop 'Dell Latitude E5500'

Eagarly waiting for the reply on these issue from the xen discussion group.

Regards,
Krishnamoorthy.G
