I had the privilege to work with Gilles on a paper for the first (and only?) xenomai users meeting in Dresden in 2009. Our topic was the fast context switch extension (FCSE) for armv5 machines. Gilles made the FCSE actually work and creatively expanded the idea in a useful way. I was able to meet him in person in Dresden on that occasion, and I will remember him as a true gentleman with a good sense of humor.
