installation on solaris

Hi,

I am trying to untar the July 18 distribution for solaris using the following command:

tar -xvf xerces-c1_5_1-SolCC.tar.gz

and it fails with directory checksum errors.  I tried adding the -i option to tar 
command but it still doesn't work.  Am I doing something wrong?
