I got the version numbers from a thread here. I think the sender probably meant version 1.4.3. Even so, I can't find that version on the website. I don't want to use version 1.5.0 or 1.5.1 right now because of their purported memory leaks (probably due to the schema implementation which I don't need).

Where did you get these version numbers? The
most recent version of
Xerces-C is
1.5.1. There is no version 4.3.3, nor are there versions 4.0
or 5.0.
The latest stable version is here:
