From what I have gathered... The binary distribution basically requires solaris 7 or 8.. There are some libraries that they come with that solaris 2.6 did not.

On my 2.6 I had to build from scratch (make sure you have a gcc >= 3.0 or gcc need to be built with --enable-shared).
