Hello - thought I should get back into this thread since I started it all. I've been sitting back observing since alot of the discussion is above my current XML knowledge. In any case it appears that a general consensus is that a basic implementation would be desirable with the understanding that the resulting output may not be perfectly legal XML and possibly differ from the original when dealing with mixed nodes. But will feature an option to provide a human readable form of the document.
That seems like a reasonable first step and most importantly useful with room for a more complete implementation in the future.
What is the next step? I know there is a patch available in a previously submitted bug report, but I do not know the details of it nor have been able to apply the patch to code. I have a basic implementation working as per my original message which I have been using w/o any issues in my very simple application.

Hi all, I don't want this thread to disappear into oblivion again so this is the last chance to speak up.
