I have a moderately large document so its composed of several separate
physical files. I use entity references to include them. I would like
the application to see the same thing as if the information were all in
one long file. I managed this with Xerces 1.7, but haven't yet found a
way to do it with 2.4 or a later snapshot. Problems I've run into
involve read-only objects and sometimes multiple copies of things. In
the API documentation and W3C documents on the DOM I've seen statements
to the effect that entities (or entity references) and their children
are read-only, so I think what I want is for the scanner (or some prior
step) to have already expanded them, and not to have any DOMNodes which
are of type entity or entity reference in the DOM document.
AbstractDOMParser::setCreateEntityReferenceNodes(const bool create)
ought to do this with create = false, but I run into more problems with
that setting than with the default of true. Am I missing something
here? Is what I'm trying to do really impossible without doing lots of
cloning?
