Resolver: Alberto Massari Date: Fri, 9 Jul 2004 3:12 AM As stated in the doc, Initialize() must be called before any other call to a Xerces API/object. If we called Initialize() under the cover as you suggested, we would have memory leaks (as the number of calls to Terminate() would not match any more the calls to Initialize() ) and a lot of checks+initialize would be added to several places, making the code bigger and slower.
