Macintosh build instructions are unclear about XERCESCROOT

The build instruction for Macintosh say:
setenv XERCESCROOT "<xerces-c-directory>"
cd src/xercesc
./runConfigure -p macosx -n native
make
But it's not clear what "<xerces-c-directory>" should be. I guessed
/Users/roy/Dev/XML/xerces-c-src_2_6_0/src/xercesc
when, apparently, it should have been
/Users/roy/Dev/XML/xerces-c-src_2_6_0
Pehaps this could be made more explicit?
