Great! :) There's plenty to do, for sure.

Right now we're doing a variety of things in preparation for
a beta release of Xerces2. The beta release will solidify the
Xerces Native Interface (XNI) and provide enough documentation
that people can more easily jump in and get started with the
code. My suggestion would be to wait until the beta release
so that we all are starting from the same point and building
on a solid base.

Schema definitely needs the most work. Recently I looked
into what it would take to port the existing Schema code to
the new Xerces2 framework. It turned out to be a big problem.
It's probably not impossible but it would still require a
good amount of time. 

And we're starting to discuss new design approaches for the 
validation engine and Schema implementation. Any thoughts or 
help in this area would also be good.

Let us know how many resources you have to work on Xerces
and we can figure out what's the best you for you to help
out.
