True ... but if they did, then they were using
Xerces incorrectly in the first place (even if
you look only at the old API docs). We should
hardly hold up the correctness of Xerces to
work around the incorrectness of applications
using it! :) I'd say it's a reasonable change.

I guess default values would be
boolean _indenting= false;
int _indent= 0;

The only thing is that there might be existing applications where somebody
may have used setIndent(2) whout calling setIndenting(true).
