Hi Sam,
something isn't right here. I changed build.xml to exclude 
src/org/apache/xerces/dom3/ls from the build. So it's rather odd that 
the build failed in trying to compile a file in this directory.
At the same time, everybody else seems to report that they can build 
without any pbs. So, there is something that differs in the way gump 
does it. If it's not the version of build.xml, I wonder what it is.

Could it be ant? One thing I noticed is that the excludes attribute 
seems to take comma or whitespace separated lists. I use the latter for 
simplicity. Could you be using a version of ant that doesn't support this?

This is pure speculation but at this point I don't know what else to do...
