Well, I've been talking about it for a long time but
now I have something to show. I've wanted to update the
docs for a *long* time to fix some of the problems users
(and myself) have experienced. Some of the goals of the
doc redesign are:

   * removal of images -- make jumpbar plain text
   * show "hidden" pages on the jumpbar
   * improve the build system for the docs

The first one was easy. The second was something that's
bothered me for some time -- that you can't see what
page you're on once you go deeper into the docs. Case
in point, when you enter the "XNI Manual" the jumpbar
doesn't show this fact unless you're on the main page.
Lastly, I wanted to improve (or replace) the StyleBook
tool with one that was easier to use and that was
documented.

Using my new NekoStyle tool[1], I've generated a sample
Xerces2 doc design. Please check it out and let me know
what you think[2]. Do you like the design? Do you think it
solves the problems set forth above?

The design I've posted relies on good support for CSS
so you should use IE, Mozilla, or the latest Netscape.
(It looks terrible rendered with Netscape 4 but there's
probably ways around that.)

I used the existing XML documentation to generate the
pages. (The version on my web site may be slightly out
of date, however.) I didn't rewrite any of the docs or
change their syntax in any way. The only thing I did
was write some new stylesheets to do the transformation
using NekoStyle.

Please check it out and let me know what you think.

BTW, what do you think of the logo design?
