Hi Andy,

Moving WML implementation into its own jar, and perhaps bundling HTML DOM
impl and NekoHTML, sound great to me! I'd certainly like to see Neko as a
subproject of Xerces anyway.  My only concern is with build file changes;
will you have time to help here? I may have some as well, but I sure don't
want to carry that ball singlehanded.

As to docs: I looked with lynx and IE 5.5 and they're nice--much cleaner
and more accessible than at present. But Elena looked with Netscape 4 and
it was indeed as horrible as you promised. Since there are lots of folks
out there whose employers have standardized on NS 4 (or so it was said
during the discussions on general@ earlier this year that culminated in
Forrest), we probably can't abandon NS 4 quite this blatantly yet...

Is the new approach unavoidably tethered to CSS, or do you think you can
make it work with old versions of NS? (I know amazingly little about CSS
and company, so I'm afraid I can't offer anyhelp. :-))

Cheers,
Neil

Cool! It's been a long time between releases. And I know
you guys want to move a bunch of stuff into the 2.1.0
release scheduled next.

So, thinking of the future, I want to ask a few questions
about 2.1.0:

  1) Are we breaking out the sub-projects like HTML, WML
     DOM impls, etc?
  2) Assuming number 1, are we going to include NekoHTML
     as a sub-project?

A "yes" answer to either of these two questions means
that we need to perform some repository re-organization.
So, if that's the direction we want to head, then let's
start making some decisions.

And I'd like to see a fresh coat of paint on the docs
for the 2.1.0 release to really distinguish Xerces2 as
an entirely new beast from the 1.x code. Which leads me
to my final question:

  3) Do people like the documentation design idea I posted?
