Xerces treats location path "//" in xpath attribute of xs:selector element of xs:key 
element as if it were "/"

Your second problem seems to be the more important of the two; it should be 
fixed in CVS now.  You can either do cvs checkout and build Xerces yourself to 
verify this, or you can grab new jars from 
http://gump.covalent.net/jars/latest/xml-xerces2/  Please close the bug if it 
is indeed fixed.
