If you want the error to be directed somewhere other than the console you need 
to register your own error handler on the document builder, or if you want the 
error to be silently consumed register a null error handler.

By default we report errors to the console as a convenience to users. It's a 
double edged sword. If we don't do this users will complain that the parser 
doesn't report schema and DTD validaton errors. If we do, there'll be a number 
of users who don't like the default behaviour. I don't know of anything in SAX, 
DOM, etc... that constrains the default behaviour, so the parser seems to have 
a degree of freedom here.

I'm marking this as a wontfix, because I believe the current behaviour is as 
intended.
