This request has been subsumed by SAX 2.0.2. To instruct the SAX parser to report the
namespace of namespace attributes as http://www.w3.org/2000/xmlns/ turn on the new
feature: http://xml.org/sax/features/xmlns-uris.

This has already been implemented in CVS and will be in the next release.

        Key: XERCESJ-800
Summary: namespace-prefixes on gives wrong namespace for xmlns attr
       Type: Bug

     Status: Resolved

Platform: PC

Description:
When I turn on the feature http://xml.org/sax/features/namespace-prefixes, in
the call to startElement() of my content handler, the uri for an
xmlns:<something> attribute is the empty string. According to the specs [1],
this value should be http://www.w3.org/2000/xmlns/. This bug is causing Xalan to
misbehave, see Bugzilla 16826 [2]
