Look at SyncML, http://www.syncml.org/

This is becomming the prevailing standard for data synchronization.

The advantages are obvious:

- A standard ( we get away from proprietary implementations), so
you Nokia smart phone can synchronize PIM apps with you Palm, and
your messaging servers ( whatever they are e.g Exchange, Domino, etc).

- A scalable way to get Peer to Peer data synchronization.

etc.

Look for more details, and implementation at the syncml site.

How can we use XML technology in data syncronization? it's advantages and disadvantages in performing data syncronization.

note: syncronization should be bidirectional
