AFAIK
parser instances are never reentrant. they can be used mutliple times but
only by 1 thread at a time. there was a NPEx that we used to get out of
the JAXP parser factories when using a single factory instance with multiple
threads with older versions of Xerces-J (1.3.x) that went away with the current
versions 1.4.x (of Xerces 1 - i can't speak for Xerces 2).
