So that's not the correct way for me, as I wouldn't want to have to create a 
custom title page for every bookmap and have to change the configuration each 
time I want to create output.

I think the only way will be to modify xxe-config:dita/xsl/fo/fo.xsl ?

This is not possible. When you use the "title-page" XSLT stylesheet parameter, 
the referenced .fo (and the .xhtml) file is assumed to have been created ``by 
hand'' in its entirety. Such files typically contain an advanced graphic design.
