          Priority: Medium
            Bug ID: 8588
                CC: [email protected]
          Assignee: [email protected]
           Summary: provide org.gnome.settingsdaemon.mediakeys
        QA Contact: [email protected]
          Severity: enhancement
    Classification: Xfce
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: [email protected]
          Hardware: All
            Status: NEW
           Version: 4.8.2
         Component: General
           Product: Xfce4-session

XFCE really needs to provide the org.gnome.settingsdaemon.mediakeys service so
that when the XF86Audio* keys are pressed the appropriate DBus signals are
emitted. An example implementation of this in python can be found here:

http://code.google.com/p/mediakeys-daemon/

It currently lacks the ability to listen for the key events and instead relies
on keybindings being made that call that same program with arguments. A more
complete solution would include binding to the X11 keys so that an external
binding was not necessary.
