so let's try to add some more content to that. I was able to use lxmed
to edit my Xfce menu. I just downloaded it from:
http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/download.html
Extracted the tar.gz and opened a terminal in the extracted folder where
the LXMenuEditor.jar is.
A simple 'java -jar LXMenuEditor.jar' starts lxmenu. So I could not
confirm your results and it would be great if you could add some
relevant error messages to see what really is failing there.

has fixed that error.
Very frustrating.
