Hi Frank, I've discussed that issue already with upstream [1]. It seems to be a general issue and not related to any special version of Claws Mail itself.
Did you try to close Claws Mail and restart? Settings are only written and applied properly if the client gets closed. Maybe it crashed before or did not detect a system standby/suspend. Sometimes, this was an issue for me. I am using Claws Mail 3.9.2 [2] and have not seen that issue so far.
