Hey folks.

Should we look at retiring xfce4-mixer in f29?

It doesn't play nice with pulseaudio
we have xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin that works much better
it never got a 4.12 release.
it still uses gstreamer-0.1x
it has a bunch of bugs outstanding upstream

Does anyone see a need for it to stay around?

Every time I upgrade I immediately UNinstall PA and use ALSA only - so I still depend on xfce4-mixer . .

Have you tried pulse lately? I resisted it for years because of
flakiness. Then at some point something stopped supporting pure alsa.
And I gave in to try pulse again. And all is fine since that day
(actually controlling streams separately is an added feature).

So if you don't have some hard requirement, I think you can try out pulse.

Hmm . . OK, I'll see how I go at the next fresh install - I usually do a dnf upgrade most times and only install from scratch on a new hard disk which seems to average every third or fourth version . .

Thanks,

Phil.
